San Diego, CA — September 24, 2012 WomanCare Global celebrates World Contraception Day, a global campaign with a mission to improve awareness of contraception while empowering young people to make informed decisions regarding sexual and reproductive health. Set for September 26, 2012, the annual World Contraception Day recognizes the importance of access to contraception for women around the world. The event also promotes the availability of accurate, unbiased information to prevent unplanned pregnancies.

Saundra Pelletier, CEO of WomanCare Global remarked, “As an organization focused on women’s reproductive health, WomanCare Global has positively impacted the health and welfare of women in the developing world by providing access to safe, affordable, high--quality contraception along with other reproductive--focused healthcare products.”

According to The World Health Organization (WHO), an estimated 222 million women in developing countries would like to delay or stop childbearing but are not using any method of contraception.1 The reasons cited included limited options and lack of access. Pelletier explained, “Lack of information and lack of access are two critical barriers that need to be eradicated. We know that women want a more active role in their family planning decisions and we are striving to create a framework that will enable women to take advantage of safe and effective contraceptives without having to worry about cost or quality.”
