It’s a great moment for global family planning—especially since Melinda Gates has thrown her support behind the cause. One of the many organizations improving access for women in the developing world is WomanCare Global, a group focused on finding an economically sustainable fix to the supply chain. Their efforts help women buy affordable products for short-term and long-term contraception in countries where condoms are available but IUDs and injections are prohibitively expensive. They also distribute Softcup, a reusable feminine-hygiene product that allows children in countries like Kenya to continue to go to school even when they can’t afford pads and tampons.
